Aurletta A. Barbary, 93, a resident at Golden Living Center- Kinzua, Warren, PA. for the last 5 years, died on Thursday, March 7, 2013. Born in Pittsburgh, PA. on March 4, 1920, the oldest daughter and child of the late Andrew and Mary Kramer Kasper, she married Austin John Barbary, Sr., on November 9, 1942, was the mother of three children, Austin John Barbary, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Rollinsford, N.H.; the late Mary Linda Barbary, and the Rev. Sandra B. Kerner of Powhatan, VA., the grandmother of Kyle Barbary and Jenna Barbary; and the aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, her husband, her son-in-law, Fr. Robert J. Kerner, her three sisters and two brothers. For the past 50 years she has lived in Warren County, retiring from GTE Sylvania after 20 years, in 1982. As a long-time member of Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Warren, she served as an Usher and Eucharistic Minister. She visited the sick and homebound, bring Holy Communion to many parishioners of the years and leading Communion Services in the absence of a priest. Her spiritual life was deepened by participation in Cursillo and in the Spirit of Christ Charismatic Community. She was active in the Catholic Daughters of America, appointed to leadership positions as Regent, then district Deputy, and Grand Regent. Aurletta was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, serving a term as President. Cooking and gathering people together around good food was her passion, especially in retirement. She made many meals for the clergy and for parish receptions; her passion led her to initiate the ministry of providing meals for families after funerals and she chaired this effort many years. Aurletta will be remembered for her willingness to serve in whatever way she was called by God, in prayer and in action, and always with a loving, joyful spirit. Friends may call at the Donald E. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church Monday at 10:00 A.M. by Fr. James Gutting, Pastor, officiating, assisted by Deacon Joseph Lucia. A Committal service will follow the mass at St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery. A luncheon will provided for at Holy Redeemer Church Center following the Committal.
