Robert L. Blackwell

Robert L. Blackwell, 80, of Warren, PA died Sunday, July 8, 2013 at his home following a brief illness. Born on July 27, 1932 in Bruceton, TN he was the son of the late Patrick and Clara William Blackwell. On January 26, 1956 in Liege, Belgium he married Jeannine Fontaine who survives. Robert was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving in Prum, Germany for eight years. He had been employed as a stock clerk at Warren State Hospital. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was well known for telling and hearing good jokes from everyone he met. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Roy James (Patricia Alworth) Blackwell of Rimersburg, PA, Clara Adele McKotch and Ray Glenn Blackwell, both of Warren, PA, five grandchildren, Michelle (Robert) Walburg, Stacey (Eric) Clark, Stephanie (Adam) Cassell, Lisa (Derek) Frank and Kevin Blackwell, three great-grandchildren, Blake Cassell, Alexis Frank, and Owen Walburg, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Rebecca Mitchell, Frances Spence, and Thelma Pennington, an infant sister, two brothers, Dan Blackwell and Billy Blackwell, and son-in-law, Larry McKotch, Jr. A private viewing and service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Donald E. Dorothy M. Doyle

Dorothy M. Doyle, 91, a resident of the Rouse Warren County Home died Wednesday morning, July 3, 2013 at 10:55 A.M. after a brief illness. She was born at home in Sheffield, PA. on December 11, 1921 to the late Gilbert E. and Mabel Irene Jones Hanson. She was a lifelong Sheffield area resident. Dorothy was a longtime salesclerk with the former Culbertson 10 cent store and Brewsters Variety Store retiring from there. She was known as the “Candy Lady” Dorothy was of the Lutheran faith. She was a devoted daughter, mother and grandmother, who was always a caregiver. Her family was the center of her life. She is survived by 5 grandchildren, 3 of whom she helped raise, Deborah Labesky and husband, Matthew of Warren, PA., Dorothy Nyberg and husband, Kevin of Leesburg, VA., Dr. James Doyle of Warren, PA., Barbara Williger of Hermon, Maine, John Doyle and wife, Lesa of Eddington, Maine, 1 Cousin – Richard “Squeek” Hanson of Sheffield, PA., 11 Great Grandchildren – Alannah, Alicia, Alexa and Mitchell Labesky, Jamie, Hayden and Trevor Nyberg, Jacqueline and Katherine Doyle, Samuel and Thomas Williger. Timothy J. Stuart

Timothy J. Stuart, 60, of Clarendon, PA died Monday, July 1, 2013 at St. Vincent’s Health Center in Erie, PA.

Born on January 20, 1953 in Jamestown, NY he was the son of the late William Poyer and Gladys Armstrong Stuart. On February 14, 1992 in Sheffield, PA, Tim married Cherita Hannold who survives.

Tim was a truck driver for Berenfield Containers. He owned a garage and coffee shop in Clarendon, The Hobby Garage. He enjoyed going to car shows, hunting, fishing, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Rocky Stuart of Warren, PA, Tiaunna Stuart, Shanija Stuart and Jeremy Stuart, all of Clarendon, PA, one granddaughter, De’Jania, four sisters, Rebecca Donato and Rose (Don) Fileger, all of Clarendon, PA, Patricia (George) Gnage of Erie, PA and Yvonne (James) Way of Evanstron, Wyoming, one brother, William Stuart of North Carolina, one brother-in-law, Joachim Heinke of Kennedy, NY, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by two brothers, David E. Stuart and Jeffrey A. Stuart, and one sister, Cindy Heinke.

Adaline B. Potter

Adaline B. Potter, 93, of Warren, PA died Monday, July 1, 2013 at Warren Manor in Warren, PA. Born on January 20, 1920 in Erie, PA she was the daughter of the late William and Hulda Elizabeth Carlson Hoffman. Adaline was a lifelong resident of Warren. She was very active with the Warren Senior Center where she would play the piano. She loved to play cards, Scrabble and doing crossword puzzles. Adaline is survived by three daughters, Marla (William) Verbosky of Sheffield, PA, Tenna (Ron) Smith of Clarendon, PA and Bernita (Tony) Welker of East Rochester, OH, one son, Terry McKinney of Coconut Creek, FL, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Adaline was preceded in death by a son, Duane Bruce “Duke” Gheres, two sisters, Gladys Muscaro and Geraldine Furness, and one brother, Gerald Hoffman. Neva Y. Anderson

Neva Y. Anderson, 78, of Warren, PA. died Friday afternoon at 4:25 P.M. June 28, 2013 at the Rouse Warren County Home. She was born Sunday, June 23, 1935 at the home of her grandmother, Ruth Irvine in Mt. Jewett, PA. to the late Albert and Merle Irvine Lore. Neva was a Warren area resident since 1945 and a graduate of Warren High School Class of 1954. She was employed at Lorangers retiring from there after many years employment. She was a member of the former Warren Free Methodist Church, a 30 year member and Past President of the Warren Eagles Auxiliary, she was a member of the Forest Grange and also served as State Bulletin Editor and on various state committees. She was an avid cat lover, enjoyed reading. She fulfilled one of her bucket list items, at the age of 77 she had her 1st ride ever on a Harley Davidson Motorcycle, driven by her great nephew, Tony. She made a difference in many lives with sternness and love. She is remembered as a wonderful wife and mother.
Neva is survived by her husband of 57 years, Leroy “Sonny” Anderson whom she married June 16, 1956 in Warren, PA., Her bestfriend and caregiver, Julie Shaffer, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 2 sons – Leroy A. Anderson, Jr. and Albert C. Anderson, 4 brothers – Howard, Raleigh, Stanley and Thomas Lore.

Carolyn J. Atkins

Carolyn J. Atkins, 78, of Warren, PA. died peacefully at her residence Friday morning, June 28, 2013. She was born September 11, 1934 in Warren, PA. to the late Samuel and Jennie Kujava Castagnino. She was a lifelong Warren area resident and a 1953 graduate of Warren High School. Carolyn was employed with Certified Electric, Johnson Enterprises and United Refinery Company as a secretary retiring in 1995. She was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church where she was a Eucharistic minister. She enjoyed decorating and working in her flower beds at her home. Her family and friends were her life. She is survived by her 3 children – Judy M. Anderson and husband, Thomas, Margie A. Finscher and husband, Erik all of Russell, PA., Michael R. Atkins of Warren, PA., 7 grandchildren – Troy and Cory Anderson of Washington, D.C., Robert and Nicole Atkins of Warren, PA., Alex, Zack and Logan Finscher of Russell, PA., several nieces, nephews and cousins. David J. Seceniquia

David J. Seceniquia, 61, of Warren, PA. died peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday morning, June 26, 2013. He was born August 14, 1951 in Bradford, PA. to the late Frank and Margaret Purcell Seceniquia. David was a 1969 graduate of Warren Area High School and attended Allegheny College and graduated from Jamestown Community College with a associate degree in nursing. He was employed with Warren State Hospital as a registered nurse, and was previously a psychiatric aide and worked in the maintenance and ground keeping departments. He was a lifelong Warren area resident. David enjoyed music, especially guitar and piano music, fishing, gardening, computer work, Indian head and driftwood collector, scavenging for metal with his metal detector. He was a real animal lover, especially loved his three cats – Weiber, Spirit and Dreamer. He is survived by his longtime companion of over 27 years, Joyce Fehrer Lester of Warren, PA., her two children – Daniel Lester of Pittsfield, PA., Scott Lester of Muncy, PA., 2 Step Grandchildren – Paige Lester, Jasmin Jensen, 1 Sister – Mary Egidio and husband, Steve of Lakeland, FL, 1 Niece – Elizabeth Pendergrass of Lakeland, FL, 1 Nephew – Benjamin Egidio of Clermont, FL., Great Nephew – Logan Pendergrass and several cousins. Gail E. Cobb

Gail E. Cobb, 88, of Warren, PA died Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Golden LivingCenter – Kinzua, in Warren, PA. Gail was born on December 24, 1924 in Warren, PA and was the son of the late George M. and Myrtle Rogers Cobb. He graduated from Warren High School in 1942 and in 1943 he began his two and a half years of service with the U. S. Army during World War II, serving one and a half years in the European Theatre. In 1950 Gail graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and continued evening studies at Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. While there he worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co., later the National Lead Co. In 1954 he bought Simonsen Wallpaper and Paint, later changing the name to Cobb’s Wallpaper and Paint, Inc., which he owned for over 45 years. Gail truly enjoyed and appreciated his customers. Gail was a member of First Lutheran Church in Warren where he served on the church council for two terms. He was a Sunday school teacher and served as Sunday school superintendent. He also served on various church committees including the educational and new church building committees. Gail was a AAA board member for over 43 years and also past president. He was on the boards of the Warren Jaycees, Warren Chamber of Commerce, Higher Education, Friends of Library Theatre, and involved in establishing the VoTech school as well as other community activities. Gail was also a member of North Star Lodge #241 F. and A.M. of Warren, the Coudersport Consistory, Jaffa Shrine, Warren Moose Lodge #109 and Warren Elks Lodge #223. Gail is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth Simonsen Cobb, whom he married on December 21, 1946 in the First Lutheran Church, of Warren, PA, a daughter, Diane (Dick) Smith of Warren, PA, two sons, William (Celia Knapp) Cobb of Warren, PA and Dr. David (Sue) Cobb of Greensburg, PA, three grandsons, Jonathan (Whitney) Cobb, Eric (Aleshia) Smith and Patrick Smith (fiancé, Abby), nephews Jim, Jeffrey, Mark and Alan Torrance, and first cousins Dorothy Smith and Mary Schorman. In addition to his parents, Gail was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey David Cobb, a sister, Audrey Torrance and her husband, Jim, and a nephew, Jon Torrance. Carol Dalrymple

Carol E. Scalise Dalrymple, 74, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013 after a brief illness surrounded by her family. She resided in Huntington Beach, CA, but spent several months each summer in Erie visiting family and friends with her husband, Jerry, who passed last September. She was born on February 10, 1939 in Weldbank, PA. to the late James A. and Mary E. Griebel Scalise. Carol graduated from Warren High School in 1956 and continued her education and graduated in 1959 from St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in Erie, PA. Carol thoroughly loved her grandchildren and was an avid reader. She is survived by her 3 children – Kevin C. Dalrymple of Orange, CA., Mark J. Dalrymple of Evergreen, CO., and Susan M. Hillenbrand and her husband, Pat of Westminster, CA, 3 Grandchildren – Nicole Dalrymple, Sean and Christina Hillenbrand, 1 Sister – Joanne Jewell and husband, Charles of Youngsville, PA., James A. Scalise and wife, Susan of Warren, PA., several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry C. Paul E. Nordine

Paul E. Nordine, 92, of Warren, Pa. died Saturday morning, June 15, 2013 at the Warren Manor Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was born March 15, 1921 in Warren, PA. to the late John F. and Tekla Hammer Nordine. Paul was a lifelong Warren area resident and was a 1940 graduate of Warren High School. He had been employed as a district storekeeper with the Pennsylvania Electric Company for 31 years retiring in 1976. He was a charter member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where h was active in many church activities. He was a 70 year member of the Joseph Warren Masonic Lodge and also a member of the Chapter and Commandry. Paul enjoyed playing the Harmonica. He enjoyed entertaining, especially giving candy to the staff of Warren Manor. He is remembered for having a very strong faith He is survived by his God Daughter, Pam Nordin and her husband, Myron, whom he especially loved.
