Yolanda Peroski, 83

Yolanda Peroski, 83, of Warren, PA died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Residence. Born February 26, 1929 in Warren to the late Peter and Angela Rose Molinaro, she was a lifelong resident of the area. Yolanda graduated in 1948 from Warren High School and had been employed as a clerk with Crone’s Pharmacy and the former New Process. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and a good game of cards. A devoted mother and homemaker, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph R.C. Church.

She is survived by her daughter – Marie “Mardi” Logan, of Marysville, WA; three grandchildren – Matthew, Ryan and Jeremy Graves, all of Asheville, NC; and a great grandchild – Marek Graves.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers – Frank and Tony Molinaro.

Bernice E. Whippo, 87

Bernice E. Whippo, 87, a resident of the Corry Manor, Corry, PA. died there Monday morning, June 25, 2012 after a brief illness. She was born December 31, 1924 in Youngsville, PA. to the late Guy and Edna Hedstrand McIntyre. She has resided most of her life in Corry. She was a 1942 graduate of Youngsville High School. Bernice was employed with the former Raymonds and now known as Corry Federal Credit Union as a Teller and Loan Officer retiring after 28 years service. She was a member of the Corry Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Clair M. Whippo whom she married June 22, 1974 in Corry, PA, 8 Children – David Whippo and wife, Karen of Erie, PA., Caroll Humphrey and husband, Tom of Glasgow, KY, Marjorie White and husband, Homer of Albany, NY, Paula Trisket and husband, John of Corry, PA, Candace Frontera and husband, John of Union City, PA., Alana Holenbeck and companion Jim Holcomb of Warren, PA., Robin Williams and husband, Mike of Corry, PA., Teena Chiricuzio and companion John of Sunset Bay, NY, 1 Sister – Delores Wheatley of Monroe, WA., many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Frank Chiricuzio, 1 Son – William Chiricuzio, 2 Brothers – Duane and John McIntyre and grandson, Todd Harvey. James W. Lorenz, Jr., 59

James W. Lorenz, Jr., 59, of Warren, PA. died Monday evening, June 25, 2012 at Select Specialty, Erie, PA. after a illness of the past month. He was born August 30, 1952 in Warren, PA. and was a 1970 graduate of Warren Area High School. Jim was employed with the Rouse Warren County Home, Warren State Hospital, worked at Group Homes in Warren, PA. In his later years, he was the caregiver of his mother. He was an avid Penn State Sports Fan. Christmas was his favorite holiday. He was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church.

He is survived by his father, James W. Lorenz, Sr. with whom he resided with, 1 Brother – David W. Lorenz and wife, Jean of N. Warren, PA., 3 Nieces – Kim E. Lorenz of Bellfonte, PA., June Borden and her husband, Bob and their children, Devin and Kaitlyn Borden of Sheffield, PA., Jennifer Wolcott and her husband, Jon and their children, Joseph Rutsky, Hunter and Dustin Wolcott of Sugar Grove, PA. , 2 Nephews – David M. Lorenz of Warren, PA., Mark Lundmark and his son, Bailey Lundmark of Russell, PA., 2 Aunts – Ermina McCoy of Warren, PA., Phyllis Dunham of Pleasantville, PA., several cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn M. Lorenz who died February 23, 2007, stillborn triplet sisters – Mary Ann, Sherri Ann and Elizabeth Barbara Lorenz, triplet brothers – Patrick, Joseph and David Lorenz. There will be no visitation hours observed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Friday, June 29, 2012 at St. Joseph R.C. Church at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Fr. Richard J. Edmond C. Christenson, 62

Edmond C. Christenson, 62, of Warren, PA. died Friday, June 8, 2012 at Golden Living-Kinzua Valley, Warren, PA. after an extended illness. He was born November 29, 1949 in Warren, PA. and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1967 graduate of Warren High School, where he was a strong track member. Ed was a disabled veteran, serving in Vietnam from 1967 until 1973 in the Marine Corp as a Corporal. He had served as a coach for softball and basketball teams, he enjoyed playing blackjack, poker and was an avid pool player.

He is survived by 4 children – Tiffani Christenson and her companion, Jerry Hammerbeck of Warren, PA., Domenique “Deannne” Grady and Marcel Grady both of Colorado, Jesse Grady of Warren, PA., 1 Grandson – Clayton Hammerbeck of Warren, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Otto and Natalie Romaine Owen Christenson, 1 Sister – Linda Lucas, 1 Brother – William Christenson.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00AM Friday, June 29, 2012 at Praise Fellowship, 7451 Market St, Russell, PA 16345. with Rev. Rick Rohlin, Pastor, Rev. William Schneider, Associate Pastor, and Rev. David Fugate, Chaplain of the Erie Administrative Medical Center, all officiating. Genevieve C. Hennessy, 85

Genevieve C. Hennessy, 85, of Youngsville, PA died Monday morning, June 18, 2012 after a one week stay in the Rouse Warren County Home. Born November 11, 1926 in Warren, PA to the late Anthony and Catherine DePhillips Scalise, she was a graduate of Warren High School and had resided in the area her entire life. She was employed with United Refinery in the cafeteria and in the returns department at the former New Process Company. She was a member of St. Luke’s R.C. Church.

Genevieve is survived by her husband – Robert L. Hennessy, whom she married August 17, 1946 in Warren; Three children – Frances Hubbard and her husband, Gail of Brandon, FL., Robert A. Hennessy and his wife, Joyce of Clarendon, PA., and Rose Marie Hennessy of Warren; A sister in law – Helen Scalise of Warren; A brother in law – Sherman Irwin of Warren; Nine grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers – Dominic and Gene Scalise; and a sister – Rose Knight.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00AM Saturday, June 23, 2012 at St. Luke’s R.C. Church with Fr. John Neff, Pastor, officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the Mass. Paula E. Hutchings, 90

Paula E. Hutchings, 90, of Warren, PA died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in Warren Manor following an extended illness. Born February 20, 1922 in Penfield, NY to the late Joseph and Lena Wagner Newman, she had resided in the Warren area most of her life. She had been employed as an LPN. A minister’s wife, Paula was a former member of the First Baptist Church until its closing. There she was active with the Mission Group, Women’s Circle and Bible Study. She enjoyed activities at the Warren Senior Center. Paula’s great passion and source of joy was always her family. She devoted her life to caring for her husband during his lengthy illness. She lovingly raised her family and leaves all of them with cherished memories of the most loving, caring, and selfless mom, grandma, and great-grandma that anyone could ever have. As a person of deep and abiding faith, she is now at peace with her Lord and Savior and that gives comfort to her family and friends. -“She was our angel and our rock”.

Paula is survived by a daughter – Barbara Hallock and her husband, Terry of Warren; Two sons – Richard Hutchings and his wife, Kathleen of Garland, TX and Robert Hutchings of Mesquite, TX; Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband – Rev. Robert M. Hutchings, whom she married July 31, 1943 at Colgate- Rochester Seminary in Rochester, NY; and two sisters.

Betty R. Miller, 89

Betty R. Miller, 89, of Warren, PA. died Friday morning, June 15, 2012 at the Warren Manor Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was born January 30, 1923 in Fryburg, PA. to the late John and Amanda Shettler Smerkar. Betty has resided in Warren since 1945. She attended St. Michaels Catholic School in Fryburg, PA. and Shippenville High School. She and her husband owned and operated Millers 5 cent – $1.00 store for 15 years. She also assisted her husband in his accounting services. She was a member of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, the church altar rosary society, Tuesday card club, C.C.D. Teacher and helper at the church center. Betty was an avid bowler and card player.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lloyd S. Miller whom she married June 4, 1947 in Fryburg, PA., 1 Son – Terrance Leo Miller and wife, Lynn of Cincinnati, Ohio, 2 Daughters – Barbara Smith and husband, Ralph of Port St. Lucie, FL, Lori Ann Falkinburg and husband, Patrick of Clarksburg, TN, 2 Sisters – Rita Kiser and husband, Frank of Shippenville, PA., Doris Cherico of Clarion, PA., 1 Brother – William Smerkar of Marble, PA., 2 Grandsons – Christopher and Sean Falkinburg, 2 Step Grandchildren – Paul Smith and Kathy Prybylinski, 3 Step Great Grandchildren – Tristan, Bryce and Paige Prybylinski. Kimberly Barr Gourley, 47, of Warren, PA. died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, June 13, 2012 at her residence. She was born January 1, 1965 in Warren, PA. to the late Patricia Young Cummings. Kim was a 1983 graduate of Warren Area High School and has resided in Warren her entire life. She had been employed in the restaurant industry. Kim was known for her kind and generous heart. Her family was her life. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren whom always brought a smile to her face.

She is survived by her fiancé – Jim Porter of Warren, PA., 2 Sons – Michael R. Battko of Warren, PA., Patrick E. Battko and his wife, Alisha of Sugar Grove, PA., 2 Sisters – Kelly Wadsworth and Karrie Cristea both of Warren, PA., 1 Brother – Frederick Glotz of Grove City, PA., 3 Grandchildren – Trenton, Corbin and Christopher Battko, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Robert L. Peterson, 78

Robert L. Peterson, 78, of Warren, PA. died peacefully Sunday afternoon, June 10, 2012 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born November 11, 1934 in Warren, PA. to the late Carl and Ruth Lawrence Peterson. He has resided in Warren his entire life and was Valedictorian of his 1952 graduating class of Warren High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Westminster College. Bob was a self employed public accountant from 1956 until his retirement in 1995. He was a member the Warren Congregation of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, where he was a former elder. He enjoyed the teachings of the bible. He was a former member of the Warren Crimestoppers. He was a longtime animal lover, a generous supporter of the Wild Life Federation. A major supporter of Indian Nations, African American Charities and a big supporter of Equal and Human Rights. He is remembered as always being a loving, generous father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Shirley Rowley Peterson whom she married August 3, 1977 in Winchester, VA., 2 Children – Kenneth Stiver and wife, Jeanine of Erie, PA., Mary Kathleen Peace and husband, Kevin of Warren, PA., 12 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren.

Jerome P. Davis, 59

Jerome Paul (Jerry) Davis, 59, of Warren, PA. died Monday morning, June 4, 2012 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Jerry was born August 10, 1952 in Warren, PA. to the late Dr. Arthur H. and Mildred May Frye Davis. Jerry graduated from Warren Area High School class of 1970, and served in the U.S. Army in the early 1970s where part of his tour of duty was in Germany, with an honorable discharge. Jerry worked for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board “State Store” business in Warren and Youngsville for over 25 years. He was proud of being a Boy Scout in his youth and devoted many volunteer hours for 30 years as an adult in Troop 8 (Presbyterian Church), Troop 21 (Holy Redeemer Church), and more recently, Troop 6. The height of his Boy Scouting experience was Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico where he journeyed with his brother Mark in 1966 and took his final trips a few years ago as an adult. He loved climbing to the top of Mount Baldy and the Tooth of Time to see the sunrise while he was there. Jerry was an active member of Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church in Warren where he served on the vestry, acolyte, lay eucharist ministry, and assisted with preparing 100+ holiday meals for the homebound. Jerry was very proud of his 19 years of sobriety and proud to carry his medallion. He was “happy for the people who loved him, especially his wife Deb.”

He is survived by his loving wife, Debra Jean Mitchell Davis whom he married September 21, 2002 in an outdoor wedding at Chapman State Park. His brother, Mark I. Davis (Karen), sister, Elaine Wiehagen (Ray) all of Warren, PA., Sons – Brett Davis and Rob Haupin, Nieces, Greta Wiehagen Kramer, Elissa Davis, Amy (Bill) Riberdy, and nephews, Sean and Chris Davis. In addition, Jerry leaves behind stepchildren – Melissa (John) Bailey, Joshua (Alissa) Williams and James (Crissy) Williams and much loved granddaughter, Maggie. Jerry is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
