Dazeglia (Dazi) N. Gern, 94, of Warren, Pa. died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Warren Manor Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was born in La Maddalena, Italy on December 25, 1918 to the late Joseph and Nicoletta Secchi Atzori and has resided in Warren since April 3, 1946. Dazi had worked at the former G.T.E. Sylvania as a inspector in the Wire Dept. and the Metal Base and had been a team leader in the Plastics Dept., retiring in 1979 after 29 years employment. She was a volunteer at the Warren Area Federal Credit Union where she had served as a loan officer and chairperson of the credit committee. She had served on their board of directors where she had held the position of Membership Chairperson and had taken several courses to help serve the WAFCU, such as credit committee, VIP Program and the volunteer achievement program along with attending many conferences and seminars. She was honored for her 40 years of service to WAFCU. She was a former member of the Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, Catholic Daughters of America, the Church Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of Warren Garden Club and held the position of the city Beautification Chairperson. She was a volunteer with Warren General Hospital since 1979 and a life member of the hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church.

She is survived by her son – Charles G. Gern of Zimmerman Hill, Clarendon, PA., 3 Grandsons – Charles V. Gern and wife, Jessica, Bradley A. Gern and wife, Nicole all of Warren, PA., Kevin M. Gern and wife, Beth of Hershey, PA., 5 Great Grandchildren – Corinn A. Gern, Tyler L. Gern, Devon M. Bosko, Braden U. Gern, Carter C. Gern, Brodee I. Gern, 4 Sisters – Benita Atzori, Anna Piu, Mariea Vignoli, Floriona Morello all of La Maddelena, Italy. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Gern whom she married October 25, 1944 in la Maddalena, Sardinia, Italy, her daughter-in-law, Denna L. “Dee” Gern who died August 24, 2012, 3 Sisters – Dominica and Fanicia, Lugia De Mauro, 4 Brothers – Eleio, Dominico, Eleio and Bruno Atzori.

There will be no public visitation hours observed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Joseph R. C. Church on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of the Ascension in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent through a Warren Garden Club, Paws Along the River or a charity of one’s choice.
