Elizabeth A. Hoffman passed away October 12, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Warren on March 12, 1935, the daughter of John and Regis Eggleston, Youngsville, PA who predeceased her. She graduated from Warren Area High School in June, 1952 and enrolled in WCA School of Nursing. After training in NYC and working for WCA, she moved to Denver where she was employed for seven years at University of Colorado Medical Center. Returning to Warren in 1963 she worked off and on at Warren General Hospital, retiring in 1995 as Nursing Manager of the Emergency Room.

She was the oldest of nine children: Diane Hoh , Austin, TX; Linda Hagberg (John) Sugar Grove John Eggleston (Karen) and James Eggleston (Victoria) of Warren; Thomas Eggleston (Char) of Titusville; Margaret Brunecz (David) of Pittsburgh; Mary Passinger (Robert) of Youngsville; and Sally Eggleston, Tucker, GA.

She was a member of the Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery for many years. She was also a member of the WCA Alumnae Association and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents and an infant brother, she was predeceased by her first husband, Charles W. Vogt (in 1963) and her second husband, Ralph W. Hoffman (in 2013). She leaves behind her sons, David C. Vogt (Annette) of Cotopaxi, CO. and Sean W. Hoffman (Pam) of Reading, PA and her daughters, Mary Beth Coltharp (Gordon) of Manassas, VA and Jane Pedrick of Annapolis, MD. Also her stepdaughter Linda M. Hoffman (Cindy Coleman) of Ashville, NC.; and stepson, Rodd W. Hoffman, Warren.

She was a wonderful, loving grandmother to her twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Finally, she thanks good friends and neighbors, Barry and Jewel Simon, who were such a big help to her and Ralph over the years.

She loved handiwork of all kinds, especially quilting and knitting Christmas stockings for everyone she knew. She and her family enjoyed many summer vacations at Lake Nippising, Ontario. Her joy in family and friends was abundant. Betty wished to be cremated and a memorial service will be held by Rev. Cindy Coleman, daughter-in-law, in the ballroom at Holiday Inn (210 Ludlow St.) on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. , a luncheon following in the Atrium. A mass will be offered in her honor at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at the New Year’s Vigil (5:30 p.m.) on Dec. 31, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Warren Cancer Center (2 Crescent Ave. Warren, PA 16365); Hospice of Warren Co.
