Margaret B. Gilson, 89, a resident of the Rouse Warren County Home died there Sunday, December 1, 2013 after an extended illness. She was born in Warren, PA. on December 13, 1923 to the late Floyd W. and Camilla Kidder Bathurst. She was a lifelong Warren area resident and a 1941 graduate of Warren High School. She became a registered nurse at the former W.C.A. School of Nursing and also trained at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, N.Y. during World War II. She attended Clarion State College and Edinboro State College earning her Bachelors of Arts degree in English. She was a member of Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church where she was a choir member and the E.C.W. She had also been a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church E.C.W. Warren Y.W.C.A. League of Women Voters, former member of the Home Street and Irvinedale Schools PTA. Margaret enjoyed reading, poetry, writing, gardening, her cats, 3 trips to England in the 1980’s during which she met James Herriot, having tea with friends, camping with Canadian friends at Buckaloons and Red Oak Campgrounds. She is survived by her 4 Children – Claudia Pontious and her husband, Rodrick of Warren, PA., Rev. Anne Bathurst Gilson and her partner, The Rev. Dr. Judith Davis both of Harwick, MA., Eileen G. Williams of Erie, PA., Richard A. Gilson, Jr. of Nashville, TN., 1 Sister – Elizabeth Withington and husband, John of Titusville, FL., 5 Grandchildren – Whitney Pontious-Wells, Adam C. Pontious, Brittany E. Williams, Tyler R. Williams, Jamie Gilson. 2 Great Grandchildren – Dylan and Bryan Wells. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 2001 by her husband, Richard A. Gilson whom she married June 23, 1950 at the First Presbyterian Church, Warren, PA. A memorial service will be conducted at a later time and place to be announced.
