Robert L. “Bob” Weidert, 91, of Warren, PA, died Monday, August 18, 2015 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA.

Bob was born on December 18, 1923 in Warren, PA, the son of the late Leo and Irene Giegerich Weidert. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U. S. Army during the D-Day Invasion, receiving the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He worked as a postal clerk in the Warren Post Office. Bob was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church and the Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Surviving are his wife of one year, Betty Swanson of Warren, PA, his son, Michael Weidert and his wife, Clarissa, of Newton, NC, his daughter, Michele Hoak and her husband, Dennis of Inwood, W. Virginia, four grandchildren, Regina Deal, C.J. Deaton, Treby Hoak and Kellie Holmstrom, 5 great-grandchildren, four step-children, one brother, William Weidert and his wife, Imogene, of Harrisburg, PA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Flora V. Morris Weidert, who died May 4, 2013.

Friends may call from 6-8pm on Friday, August 21, 2015 at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA, where a vigil service will be held at 5:45pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00AM Saturday at St. Joseph R. C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA, with Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted.
