William E. Knapp, 99, a resident of the Rouse Suites, Youngsville, PA. passed away at his residence, Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 10:30 P.M. after a brief illness. He was born October 29, 1913 on Thompson Hill, Farmington Twp. To the late Henry E. and Anna Wenzel Knapp. He attended the one room Thompson Hill School and graduated from Lander High School Class of 1930. William was drafted in the military during World War II serving with the Army Corp of Engineers in 1941 and spent the next 5 years serving his country. He traveled around the globe, but spent much of his time in China and India. He returned to the family farm on Thompson Hill in 1946 which he operated with his brother, Philip. He was a member of the Ackley Grange. He was a wonderful cook, taught by his mother to cook and bake, when she died when he was 16 years old. He is survived by his good friends, Ron Hunter and Debbie Haines, 1st cousins, Frank Knapp, Priscilla Knapp Lohnes, Pauline Sarvis, Leah Bacchetti, Eleanor Johnson, Maurice Ruland and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 his brother, Philip in 2004. Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 2 to 4 and on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. when a funeral and committal service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. by Rev. Marcus Briggs, Chaplain of the Rouse Warren County Home. Interment will be in Thompson Hill Cemetery, Farmington Twp.
