Barbara A. (Perschke) Wilson, 72, of Warren, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Warren General Hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in New Castle, PA, on November 29, 1953, the daughter of the late Norman L. and Edice J. (Harlan) Perschke. Barb was a member of First United Methodist Church in Warren. She married her perfect counterpart, Douglas P. Wilson, on August 25, 1979, in Warren, beginning a journey of 42 years of marriage. Barb retired from the Cancer Care Center in Warren in 2021.
As a child, Barb grew up involved in 4-H. 4-H instilled in her the discipline, patience, and grace that she carried with her throughout her life. Her early years in 4-H also sparked a lifelong love for horses. As she got older, competing in the show ring with her Black Morgan, “Manolito” brought her great joy and earned her numerous ribbons, medals, and trophies.
After high school, Barb attended Patricia Stevens College in Tampa, FL. Her time there helped her discover a new passion: travel. She returned to Warren and became a travel agent with AAA, a career she enjoyed for many years. During her time as a travel agent, she had countless opportunities to travel and explore the world, creating memories she would always treasure.
Barb enjoyed spending time at her condo in State College, visiting her late Aunt Lee and Uncle George at their home on Boothbay Harbor, ME, cruises with her family, and trips to Europe. She was always the most anticipated cheerleader at her children’s and grandchildren’s many sporting events. She looked forward to weekly lunches with her extended family, Jack and Lynn Collins, as well as a “Tour de Northwestern PA” of brunches and lunches with her sister, Lynda, her late brother, Bill, and her brother, Don, and his wife, Maureen.
Barb was a passionate golfer and found great joy and peace out on the course. Even more than the game itself, she cherished the laughter, friendship, and memories made while celebrating hole-in-ones and counting strokes with her golf buddies, fondly nicknamed “The Fab Five”: Anita Pellegrino, Judy McGinn, Karen Beardsley, and Lauren Fiorella.
Barb had a radiant smile, a heart of gold, and a gift for always having comforting words or a perfectly timed, witty comeback. If you were a stranger to Barb, you weren’t for very long. She spent most of her life taking care of others, always putting their needs before her own and worrying about herself last, if at all.
We will always hold close the memory of a life beautifully and fully lived, the quiet, stoic strength Barb carried with her to the very end of her brave fight, and the enduring legacy she leaves in her children and grandchildren.
Until we meet again.
Barb was preceded in death by both her father and mother, Norman L. and Edice J. (Harlan) Perschke, her husband Douglas P. Wilson, her brother William Perschke, and brother-in-laws Glenn Slocum and Robert Wilson, Jr.
She is survived by her two children, her son, Dustin P. Wilson and wife Pamela of Massillon, OH, and her daughter, Jacquelyn A. (Wilson) Brown of State College, PA; four granddaughters, Natalie L. Wilson, McKenna P. Wilson, Serena A. Brown, and Janelle E. Faucette; two brothers, Donald Perschke and wife Maureen, Stephen Perschke and wife Catherine; one sister, Lynda (Perschke) Slocum.
A Celebration of Barb’s life will be held at the Conewango Valley Country Club, 4961 Market St. Warren, PA, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 14th, 2026. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Warren. Arrangements by the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home Inc.
