Blanch G. Swaney, born April 5, 1939, in Tidioute, PA, to Ray C. and Evalena (VanGuilder) Spencer, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House.
She was preceded in death by her parents: her beloved husband, William J. Swaney: her two brothers, Edgar and Earl Spencer; her sister, Shelva Jean Spencer Sphon; and her stepson, Dale Swaney.
Blanch lived a full and active life she loved her family and friends. She was an accomplished roller skater, golfer, and bowler. Alongside her cousin Sandy, she continued roller skating well into her late 70s. She enjoyed golfing at Cable Hollow and participated in several bowling leagues throughout Tidioute, Warren, and Youngsville, PA, over the years. In her younger years, she also played catcher in a summer women’s softball league.
Blanch retired in 1981 from New Process Company after 24 years of dedicated service in the Credit Department. She later drove school bus for many years with Decker Transportation and also worked in various waitressing positions throughout her life. She met her late husband, Bill, in 1978 while covering a lunch shift for a coworker at the Fairmont Hotel.
A devoted member of Wiltsie Community Church, Blanch served on several committees and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Tonia (Paul) Yaegle of Russell, PA; and her stepchildren: Brian Swaney: Joyce (Steve) Puleo of Warren, PA; Garrett Swaney of Scandia, PA; Bill (Rita) Swaney of Youngsville, PA; Don (Debi) Swaney of Houston, AL; and Christine (J.R.) Bowman of Overland Park, KS.
Blanch was a proud grandmother to Rachel Yaegle of Harrisburg, PA; Alitta Swaney of Huntsville, AL; Catherine Swaney and Christina (Nathaniel) Williams, both of Youngsville, PA; and Carolyn (Bradley) Scott of Lakewood, CO. She was also blessed with eight great-granddaughters: Tatum, Rowan, Caitlin, Claire, Natalie, Alison, Eloise, and Isabelle.
Blanch will be remembered for her warm smile, big hugs, strong work ethic, and willingness to take on any task without hesitation. Even in her later years, she took great pride in maintaining her yard, always keeping it in beautiful condition.
Those people who were in Blanch’s family and friends circle were truly blessed to have known her.
Family will receive friends on Sunday April 19, 2026, at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home Inc., 304 East St. Warren, PA, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Moore, pastor, of Wiltsie Community Church, officiating. The family suggests family & friends wear purple or pink as they were Blanch’s favorite colors. Burial will be in Thompson Hill Cemetery, Russell, PA.
