Edward S. Sweet, 83, of Warren, PA., died Tuesday afternoon,
December 31, 2013 at Warren General Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born July 5, 1930 in Bradleytown, PA. He was the son of
the late Wilson T. and Nellie Smith Sweet, He was a Warren area
resident since 1955 moving here from Oil City, PA. Ed was
employed as a carpenter for 20 years at Blair Corporation retiring
in 1992. He was a member of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church,
Warren Moose Lodge 109. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed
traveling and woodworking. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Navy
as a Storekeeper Third Class during the Korean War serving from
August 18, 1950 to June 11, 1954. While in the service he earned
the National Defense Service Ribbon
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carroll A. Kotmair Sweet
whom he married October 26, 1957 at Holy Redeemer R.C.
Church, Warren, PA., 2 Children – Mark E. Sweet of Warren, PA.,
Jeanette C. Manzoni and husband, Carman of Dahlonega, GA.
1 Son–in-law, Robert Mattern of Warren, PA.
1 Sister – Olive L. Weaver of Altamonte Spring, FL.
6 Grandchildren – Zachary Mattern (Katie) and Kara Mattern,
Tyler Sweet (Lauren), Kaisey Sweet, Kyle Sweet, John Manzoni, 2
Great Grandchildren – Kaylynn Rickerson and Avery Mattern.
Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a
daughter – Danene M. Mattern who died April 4, 2009, 1 Brother
– Wilson Eugene Sweet. Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis
Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., Thursday,
January 2, 2014 from 6 to 8 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will
be conducted Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy
Redeemer R.C. Church, 11 Russell Street, Warren, PA. Fr. James
Gutting, Pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in the
Mausoleum of the Ascension in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery. Those
