John A. Colvin Jr., 85, of N. Warren, PA, died on Tuesday September 8, 2026, in his home after an extended illness.

He was born May 12, 1941, in Warren, PA, John was the son of John A. and Zelma Durnell Colvin Sr. He has resided in Warren his entire life and was a 1960 graduate of Warren High School. During that time, he was a 3-year letterman for football, and wrestling. He was a District Wrestling Champion and was a member of the Warren High School Wrestling Hall of Fame. He was employed for 39 years with the former National Forge Company in the Laboratory Department as a tester, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and the Warren American Legion Post #135. John was an avid Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He played semi pro football, after high school for the Jamestown “Dukes”. John enjoyed physical activity, he lifted weights well into his 80’s, still benching over 200 pounds. He also took part in the Silver Sneakers Competition, which was a nationwide physical fitness challenge competition for seniors, and John was the Runner Up. He especially enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren, whom he followed to every sporting or art program with them.

John is survived by his loving wife, Jo Olsen Colvin, whom he married December 31, 2001, in Jamestown, N.Y. , 4 children, John R. Colvin, Stephen Colvin and wife, Mindy, David Colvin and wife, Holly, and Christopher Colvin; 2 step children, Torey Kays and husband, Kelly, and Nathan Engstrom and companion, Theresa Moore; one sister, Jackie Rhoades and husband, Paul; one brother, Roger Colvin and wife, Ramie; 9 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcia Brown Colvin, and stepson, Jamie Engstrom
