Master Chief Lawrence “Larry” Marshall Fox, U.S. Navy (Ret.), 86, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on July 12, 2026. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, cherished uncle, and loyal friend. His kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Larry was born on December 25, 1939, in Warren, Pennsylvania. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 30 years, retiring in 1993 with the rank of Master Chief. Throughout his distinguished military career, he served in naval intelligence before becoming an instructor and serving in career recruiting. Dedicated to lifelong learning, he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees while on active duty.
Larry’s exemplary service was recognized with numerous military honors and commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), and the Navy Expert Pistol Medal, along with many other awards honoring his leadership, dedication, and faithful service.
After retirement, Larry devoted more time to one of his greatest passions—golf. As a member of Eagle Landing Golf Club, he spent countless enjoyable hours on the course, where he formed many lasting friendships. At home, he found great joy and comfort in the companionship of his beloved dogs, Levi and Scarlett, who brought happiness and laughter to his days.
Above all, Larry was devoted to his family. He was a loving and faithful husband, a supportive father, and a proud grandfather who treasured every moment spent with those he loved. His generosity, integrity, gentle spirit, and quiet sense of humor earned him the love and respect of family, friends, neighbors, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Gail Fox; his children, Vance Fox (Daphne) of Warren, Pennsylvania; Tonya DeLorm (Greg) of Pensacola, Florida; and Dawn Fox (Jamie) of Warren, Pennsylvania. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Kayley Neri (Brian), Jed Fox (Heyci), Jena Swanson (Cody), Tyler DeLorm (Isabel), and Kyle Whitten (Allie); four great-grandchildren; his great-niece, Summer Opachick; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Corey Fox and Edward “Eddie” Miller, his brother, Dale Fox, and his sister, Karen Crowl.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Larry’s life during a visitation at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, Florida, on Wednesday, July 15, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 16, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Grayson Marshall.
Following the funeral service and interment, family and friends are warmly invited to join in celebrating Larry’s life at Eagle Landing Golf Club, 3989 Eagle Landing Parkway, Orange Park, Florida. Larry treasured the friendships he made through golf, and the family welcomes all who knew and loved him to gather in his honor, share memories, and celebrate a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice in Larry’s memory.
Larry will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his honorable service to his country, the friendships he cherished, and the joy he found on the golf course. His legacy of love, integrity, humility, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
