Obituary

Margaret Ann O'Shaughnessy Hoover, residing at the Rouse Home, Youngsville, Pennsylvania, since July 3, 2024, died on Monday May 11, 2026, in the Rouse Home.

Margaret, Peg, was a long-time resident of Warren County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Edward Hoover, Warren, Pennsylvania, on September 14, 2001. Peg's father, William Joseph O'Shaughnessy, Sr., Titusville, Pennsylvania, passed away May 19, 1937. Peg was also preceded in death by her mother, Josephine Prenatt (O'Shaughnessy) Mallery, March 23, 1977; her stepfather, Ernest G. Mallery II, December 5, 1983; and her brother, William Joseph O'Shaughnessy, Jr., April 26, 1991; all residents of Titusville, Pennsylvania. Her sister, Diane Mallery (Osborn) Yothers, Delaware, Ohio, left us on November 29, 2020; as well as Diane's daughter, Angie Osborn Boring, Bellville, Ohio, on September 13, 2024. Ron Stangl, Peg's brother-in-law, died in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 2016.

Peg Hoover is survived by her son, William Norman Hoover, Oklahoma; daughters Margaret Josephine Hoover (Wiles) Larson and Loretta Ann Hoover Bimber, both of Warren, Pennsylvania. In addition, Peg's sister Charmaine Mallery (Schwab) Stangl and her brother Ernest G. Mallery III reside in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Peg is survived by 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, as well as a great-great-grandchild.

Peg was born on March 14, 1933, and was very much a member of the Titusville, Pennsylvania, community while growing up. She attended parochial school in Titusville, worked in the neighborhood stores, and married a local boy, Norman Hoover, on December 2, 1950.

Peg Hoover worked retail throughout her adult life. Nahum Levinson met Peg upon her return to Warren in 1972. He asked her to meet him at the Store if she'd like to work and thus began a long association with the Levinson Brothers Store; which was eventually followed by a long-lasting position at Carnahan's Clothing Store in Warren.

Nothing was more important to Peg than her family life. In addition, she formed many close friendships outside the household over the years, and those friendships remain 'alive' in family recollections.

Through the years Peg also traveled from the east coast of the USA to the west coast, either with her husband or her children. However, she was always more comfortable in the city rather than 'roughing' it in the woods. She was a fan of the nickle slot machines and marveled at the Luxor in Las Vegas. One trip Peg was initially hesitant about was the transfer to Shawnee, Oklahoma, for GE Sylvania that the family made during 1966. Gladly, though, she found a love for the region and returned to it often, even after Sylvania closed the local plant, 1972, and the family returned to Warren. Peg leaves us having had a fulfilling life and being loved by a close-knit family.

Margaret Ann O'Shaughnessy Hoover will be altogether mourned, missed by many, and remembered by all.
