Obituary

Morris Heath Kintner, known to family and friends as "Morrie" or "Mort”, 88, a lifelong resident of Warren, PA, died peacefully Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice House in Warren, PA, with his wife of 66 years, Carolyn, at his side.

He was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1937, in Warren, PA, a son of the late Morris Harry and Lois Heath Kintner. Morrie was a 1956 graduate of Warren Area High School and a 1958 graduate of Williamsport Technical Institute, where he studied art and graphic design. On a very snowy February 20, 1960, he married the former Carolyn M. Engberg in Jamestown, NY. Morrie worked in the family business, Kintner Signs from the time he could hold a paint brush. Then he officially joined his father's sign painting business after college, eventually taking over the business in 1972 after his father's passing. Morrie was a gifted hand painter specializing in gold leaf, and his work included lettering fire trucks. Although he closed the shop on Fourth Avenue in 2022, Morrie continued working as a sign painter until just days before his passing. He was a 77-year member of First Methodist Church in Warren, PA. He was a 46-year member of the Warren Lions Club, where he was honored as a Melvin Jones Fellow in 2014. Morrie was a lifelong member of Warren Elks Lodge No. 223, where he served as Exalted Ruler. Mort was a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he was often seen around town all year long in one of his many Buffalo Bills hats. His other passion was golf. He met regularly on Wednesday afternoons with a group of three friends to play at Cable Hollow. He also enjoyed attending golf tournaments, and he attended a practice round of the 2018 Masters Tournament with his high school classmate, the late Jay Krimmel III. Morrie also enjoyed spending time with another high school classmate, Delbert "Rudy" Rudolph, and his wife, Susan, of Berea, KY, while visiting their beautiful horse farm and attending action packed demolition derbies. He will be remembered as a fun and loving husband, father, and Poppi to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Morrie is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn M. Engberg Kintner of Warren, PA; 1 Daughter – Cynthia Paschke and husband, Ken of Chardon, OH; 2 Grandchildren – Allison Shalek and husband, Evan of Mentor, OH, and Geoffrey Paschke and wife, Zoë of Pittsburgh, PA; 4 Great-Grandchildren – Thatcher and Anderson Shalek, and Collins and Jack Paschke, with a great-grandson expected in early 2027; 1 Sister – Judith Wentz and husband, William "Bill" of Virginia Beach, VA; 3 Sisters-in-Law – Bonnie Engberg of Jamestown, NY, Susan Engberg of Fredonia, NY, and Anita Seaberg and husband, Stephen of Elmira, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Harry and Lois Heath Kintner; his 3 Grandparents – Lawrence and Ethel Kintner, and Eunice Osborne; his daughter, Christine L. Kintner; 1 Brother-in-Law – David C. Engberg; and 2 Uncles – Glenn Kintner and Richard Kintner.
