Dr. Patricia Ann Martin, Warren, Pa. died after a sudden illness
while visiting her brother and sister-in-law in San Diego, CA. on
Thursday, February 6, 2014. She was born to the late Edward J.
Martin and Marian Neurohr Martin Solomon on April 23, 1943 in
Indiana, PA. Trish graduated from Warren High School in 1961.
She received her undergraduate degree from Villa Maria College
in 1965, her MA in Psychology from Gannon College and her
doctorate degree in Education from John Hopkins University.
Trish entered into the religious order of the Sisters of Saint Joseph
in Erie, PA. in 1962 and became a teacher. In 1970 she left the
order and moved to Baltimore to teach in the Baltimore Public
School system. She was a counselor for the Union Memorial
Nursing School for 14 years. She worked at John Hopkins
University for over 15 years and retired as Director of Education
and Health and Wellness in 2006. Following her retirement, Tris
moved back to her hometown in Warren, PA.
Trish was a valued counselor and educator to hundreds of
students over her professional career. She was a devout Catholic
and had a close relationship with the Carmelite Sisters in
suburban Baltimore as well as the Sisters of St. Joseph in Erie, PA
She was an active member of St. Joseph's Parish in Warren, PA.
Trish was an avid reader, and was knowledgeable about the
events of our time that impacted the lives of individuals and
families. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her large
extended family and many friends. Trish touched the lives of
countless people both professionally and personally and was
always a thoughtful listener and adviser.
Trish is survived by her sisters, Mary Martin Geckle (Edward) of
Cincinnati, OH., Barbara Solomon Hesse (Charles) of Chagrin
Falls, OH., Maureen Solomon Sullivan of University Heights,
OH., and her brothers, Captain Jerome Martin (Christine) of San
Diego, CA., Thomas Martin (Veronica) of Chalfont, PA., Terrence
Martin (Caroline) of Springfield, VA., Frank Solomon, Jr. (Judy) o
Holidaysburg, PA., and Steven Solomon (Nancy) of Quarrysville
PA., 23 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward J. Martin in
1967, her mother, Marian Martin Solomon in 2004, and her
stepfather, Francis P. Solomon in 2008.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304
East Street, Warren, PA. on Friday, February 14, 2014 from 5 to 8
P.M. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will conducted
Saturday, February 15, 2014 at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600
Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA. at 11:00 A.M. with Fr.
Philip Oriole, Pastor of St. Lawrence R.C. Church, Albion, PA.
and Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor of St. Joseph Church, both
officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery, Warren
PA. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Sister
of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania, 5031 West Ridge
Road, Erie, PA. 16506-1249 or to the St. Joseph Church
Educational Center Fund, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West,
