Obituary

Robert Charles Engstrom, 80, of Warren, PA., died Thursday, October 7, 2021, at John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home, Warren, PA., after a long and courageous battle with ALS. He was born December 11, 1940, the son of the late Glenn and Dorothy Head Engstrom. He graduated from Warren High School in 1958 and Gannon University with a master's in business administration. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962, and was stationed at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, Nevada. He was employed by Sylvania/Osram Sylvania for 36 years serving an apprenticeship for a Tool and Die Maker, and later as an Equipment Design Engineer. After his retirement from Osram Sylvania in 2000, he was employed as a teacher and substitute teacher working for 20 years at the Warren County School District. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, where over the years he sang in the choir, played bells, served on the church council, was a member of the Men's group and Property Committee. He also served as ELCA Lay Worship leader for many years. He sang with the Chautauqua Chamber Singers.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeannie Drayer Engstrom, whom he married in 1964, 2 Daughters, Ginny Falconer and husband, Dennis of Warren, PA., Kristen Koebley and husband, Thomas of Strasburg, PA., 3 Granddaughters, Jessica Falconer (Julie), Sarah Koebley and Ellen Koebley.

1 Great Grandson Ivan Darling, much loved, Aunt Shirley Witherow of Warren, PA. and much loved cat, Zephy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Engstrom, his maternal grandparents, William and Eva Head and paternal grandparents, August Victor and Minnie Engstrom.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Sunday, October 10, 2021, from 6 to 8 P.M. and at First Lutheran Church, 109 W. Third Avenue, Warren, PA., on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 10:00 to11:00 A.M. A funeral and committal service will follow visitation with Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Warren, PA.
