Obituary

After a lengthy and fierce battle with cancer, Sheryl Lynn Richards, 75, was called home to be with the Lord on June 13th, 2026. She fought with courage and grace but ultimately passed peacefully at home, with her mother by her side.

Born July 8th, 1950, to Janey (Lawson) Swanson and the late Simon Confer, Sherry was a force to be reckoned with. She had a huge personality and a heart to match. After graduating from Valley High School in Las Vegas, NV, in 1968, she tried her hand at many different careers. From singing in a band, to dealing blackjack, to modeling, to being a Beauty Advisor at Saks Fifth Avenue, she shone in everything she did. Her stories about those times were always entertaining, and she loved to tell them to anyone and everyone. In her free time, she was an extremely skilled crafter, and her award-winning gardens could stop traffic in both Las Vegas and eventually Warren, after moving back in the early 2000’s. She worked at Tops Market in Warren in both the bakery and the floral department until her retirement. But serving others really made her heart happy. She was blessed to find two church homes in Warren as she was a faith-filled woman and loved the Lord. At Grace United Methodist Church, she assisted with the acolytes, decorated for holidays, and her Thanksgiving dinners are still talked about. Sheryl found her second church home at First Methodist Church in Warren and loved being part of that congregation, as well.

Left behind to cherish Sherry’s memory, in addition to her mother, are her dear aunt, Karen Gray, Warren, PA; and her sister, Marty (Kirk) Saylor, Idaho Falls, ID, and brother, Michael (Sheila) Confer, Las Vegas, NV. She also leaves behind her nephews and nieces, who affectionately call her RaRa, whom she absolutely adored: Zachary, Jacob, Austen, Travis (Dianne), McKenna, Makayla (Jacob), Jaide, Keira, Anthony, Aniya; and great-nephew, Mason. Sherry treasured her time with her nieces and nephews. Whether it was them going “swimming” in her giant bathtub, to taking them to special events in Las Vegas, they made her heart so full.

Sherry also leaves behind three generations of cousins, who loved her dearly: Mark (Julie), Gregg (Judi), Chris (Laurie), Aaren (Scott), Megan (Scott), Christopher, Alex (Abby), Hunter (Alexis), TJ (Alannah), Morgan (Chris), Brian, Adeline, Caroline, Asher, and Lawson.

In addition to her father, Sheryl was proceeded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, her husband, Andrew Richards, Jr.; her stepfather, Frederic Swanson; her uncles: James Lawson, M. Richard Danielson and James A. Gray; and sister, Debra Sue Confer. Additionally, her beloved dogs, both big and small, surely met her in heaven.

A Celebration of Life will be held at First Methodist Church, 200 Market St., Warren, PA 16365, on Tuesday, June 23rd, at 11:00 am with visitation 1 hour before the service in Parlor A. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheryl’s memory can be made to Hospice of Warren County, First Methodist Church of Warren, and PAWS Along the River Humane Society. The Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home Inc., has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.lewisfuneralhomeinc.com., or on their Facebook page.
