Shirley R. Peterson, 93, of Scranton Hollow Rd, Warren, PA, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday August 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Rochester Mills, PA, the daughter of the late Ambrose and Mary Rowley. She was graduate of Marion Center High School Class of 1950. Shirley went on to complete accounting and secretarial studies after high school. She retired from Bell Telephone, starting as a switch board operator (which she loved) and retiring as an office manager, in 1983. After retirement she worked for her husband, Bob in his accounting firm in Warren, PA.
Shirley was a very active lady, and enjoyed roller blading, biking, ice skating, water skiing, boating, and cross-country skiing. She enjoyed a lot of these activities well into her 70’s and enjoyed all of them and many more with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Shirley also enjoyed music, she played the piano and the organ, she made quilts and enjoyed crocheting.
She was an active member as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and attended at the Kingdom Hall in Pleasant Twp.
She was married August 7, 1977, in Virgina, to Mr. Robert “Bob” Peterson and they spent 35 loving years together before he passed 2012.
Shirley is survived by her loving children, Ken Stiver and wife, Jeanine of Columbia, SC, and Kathie Peace and husband, Kevin of Warren; grandchildren, Sam Andersen and wife Billie Jo of Warren, PA, Jamie Shorts of Warren, PA, Diedra Stewart and husband, Dustin of Warren, PA, Joel Peace and wife, Brittany of Jacksonville, FL, Cody Peace and wife, Rachel of Jamestown, NY, and Alexis Regan and husband, Ryan of Cartersville, GA; 14 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Bob, Shirley was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jody Andersen and Jamin Peace; her sister, Marian Bouch, and her brother, Donald Rowley.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday Sept 3, 2026, at 7:00 pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 201 Pleasant Drive, Warren, PA, with Travis Tudor, officiating, (the service will be Zoomed, please contact the family for the zoom link). Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Kane, PA. The Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home Inc. has been entrusted with the arrangements.
